This summer, we joined the thousands of young men from all over Scotland arriving at TRNSMT festival in Glasgow looking for laughs, music and sun, but who also found deep chat, a sense of influence, pride, and responsibility, and, erm, flooding.
We knew you’d do it – smash expectations by taking the time to speak with us about what a good man looks like. Knowing that we all have a role to play in preventing violence against women and girls. And, of course, stopping by our photo booth to grab a picture and Scotland bucket hat to protect yourselves from the elements.
What does that tell us? Don’t trust the weatherperson for one. But more importantly, that Scotland is full of good men who want to and who can inspire young men.

You are a role model
Well, you might be surprised to know that almost 40% of you we spoke to didn’t realise you were a role model, and left with the realisation that what you do and say can have a significant impact on those around you – especially when it comes to protecting and supporting our girls.
But how, you may ask?

None of us are perfect
Like many of you agreed, it’s not about being perfect, because no one is. It’s about doing your best.
It’s as simple as having a quiet word with your mates if they say or share something inappropriate in the group chat. Or do something out of line on a night out, like cat-calling, whistling, or using degrading and offensive language towards women.
It’s not giving a lecture, it’s giving your mates a steer, because that’s what good mates do. It’s what good role models do.
The next stage of the That Guy campaign has a new video advert, echoing exactly that.
You are a role model. Be a decent one.
